ON THE SIDELINES OF HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL WORK AMAN CENTER TAKES PART IN THE REGIONAL DIALOGUE WITH CHILDREN EVENT

The State of Qatar represented by the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center "AMAN" which is one of the centers of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work which in turn is affiliated with the Ministry of Social Development and Family took part in the work of the Regional Dialogue with Children under the title “Violence against Children and Tourism" through the digital platform on the sidelines of the Human Rights Council work. The Dialogue is in implementation of the recommendations of the 18th Session of the Follow-up Committee on Stopping Violence against Children chaired by the Republic of Iraq which is organized by the Department of Women, Family and Childhood affiliated with the Social Affairs Sector of the General Secretariat of the Arab League.

Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Najat Maalla opened the work of the Regional Dialogue with Children, with the participation of an elite group of heads of national mechanisms concerned with children's affairs in the Member States, and regional and international organizations concerned with the issues of the child's rights in the Arab Region. 

AMAN Center took part through the participation of a number of children, in coordination with the Ministry of Social Development and Family. The children stressed the importance of raising such issues indicating that violence against children in the field of tourism is an important issue to discuss in addition to shedding light on solutions and challenges to eliminate all kinds of violence in the field of tourism.

In this context, student Fatma Al-Mohanadi expressed her happiness to participate in the work of the Regional Dialogue to Stop Violence Against Children in the Field of Tourism and the extent to which support and guidance are provided to stop violence against children as well as provide them with social protection. In addition, she stressed the role of technology and its development to be used as one of the solutions and awareness methods to stop any violence against children. She also mentioned the role of the State of Qatar in providing children with protection by allocating centers that are concerned with the protection of children.

For her part, student Sara Al Dosari expressed the most important solutions and measures related to the problem of violence against children in tourism. She explained the influence of violence in tourism on children and how it may lead to cases of violence against children. She noted that enhancing awareness and education on violence against children is necessary in addition to developing protective measures and working on training those who work in this field in order to avoid such problems. 

Moreover, student Abdullah Al Mohanadi expressed the most significant challenges and problems related to violence against children in the field of tourism and searching for ways to enhance the protection and safeguarding of children. He explained the reasons for violence against children in tourism including the diversity of cultures, noting that children's awareness and eduation should be promoted.

Qatar always stresses attaching great importance to the issue of enhancing and protecting children's rights and considers it a priority in its development plan, which is primarily based on investing in human capital. That is why the State is keen on participating in such awareness-raising forums whether at the local or international levels.

The State of Qatar also stressed its keenness to provide the necessary infrastructure and the appropriate healthy environment to ensure a healthy upbringing for all children on the Qatari lands.

It is noteworthy that the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center "AMAN" seeks to raise awareness and education on the protection and rehabilitation of women and children in Qatar. The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center “AMAN" was established in 2013 with the aim of protecting and rehabilitating women and children victims of violence and family disintegration and reintegrating them into society.
